A number of years ago, I had my entire wardrobe built into spreadsheets, organized by type, season and divvied up into outfits. I kept track of what I wore and when. And for two years, I never wore the exact same outfit twice. It was a serious exercise in creativity, and somewhat of a guilty pleasure. To the outsider, however, my spreadsheets would not have made much sense since the primary categories within which I structured my outfits were names of cities. If an outfit fell under Paris, it was super chic and perhaps a little conservative. Under Miami, it was beach-appropriate. Hong Kong indicated that a look was edgier, trendy. This look, modeled by owner of 529 Kids Consign Megan Podolsky, would have fallen under Charleston: easy-to-wear chambray denim, luggage leather accents, sophisticated comfort. All of this amounts to a look that is all-American, unassuming and timeless.
Everything Megan is wearing is from The Shoe Hive–including her dress! The dress can be worn as pictured, belted, or even open as a duster. The bag is one of the new Annabel Ingall styles we wrote about last week. The wedges by Bettye Muller–a walkable style in a versatile color–are already moving quickly. And finally, our go-with-everything Asha studded bangles are always in stock. The beauty of this look (aside from our gorgeous model!) is that all of these pieces can be worked and reworked into your spring and summer wardrobe to create new looks when combined with pieces you already own. I don’t recommend my complicated spreadsheet system, but I do recommend purchasing a few classic pieces such as these to make your current favorites feel fresher.
