what to wear: river boat cruising on the potomac

We may be a bit biased but nothing really compares to summers in Old Town Alexandria. We really have it all! We are located on the waterfront, are surrounded by fabulous restaurants, unique shopping and the kindest people.

The options of things to do in Alexandria are really endless but summer wouldn’t quite be complete without a cruise down the Potomac to take in the sights.

Alexandria’s waterfront is known for its charm and colonial ambiance. You can experience our city’s picturesque views from the docks but it’s even better to see it all by boat. Board one of Potomac Riverboat Company’s vessels and set sail on the Potomac River to take in the magnificent historic sites during the day or for a sunset cruise in the evening. It’s a fun activity for the whole family, for out of town guests or even a romantic date night.

Before you set sail, you will need to find the perfect look for cruising the Potomac. We suggest wearing something that can withstand a stiff breeze, will block the sun and keep you cool all at the same time. Our beach tunics in 100% cotton are not only perfect for a beach vacation but even better on a boat since they are super light and will protect your skin from the harmful rays. Pair them with chic white denim and a pair of nude wedges and you can easily go from day to night in style and comfort.

Our models, Addie and Lauren, look absolutely fabulous in their tunics and white jeans. Since the girls set sail during the heat of the day, they chose to wear hats to block the sun from their eyes and faces. They each added delicate jewelry to complement their looks without taking away from the bold prints. They carried their favorite totes and completed their looks with adorable and comfortable nude sandals from the Shoe Hive. Their nautical looks are pure perfection, and they couldn’t look any cuter if they tried! Our favorite part about their chosen styles? They work for women of any age!

Lauren and Addie are featured wearing: cotton tunics in charcoal, blue and tan (all under $50!!), skinny white Joe’s Jeans, San Diego hats, jute pleated large tote, woven silver metallic tote, aqua chalcedony cuff set in 24k gold plate, chunky ring with labradorite stone set in 24k gold plate, pearl studs, pavé crystal studs and necklace, and mother-of-pearl & gold necklace. All items featured are available at Coco Blanca. Flip flops and wedges are available at The Shoe Hive.
