What’s on My Counter

As a follow up to my “What’s in My Purse” post, I thought I’d share what’s on my counter. I don’t use all these items at the same time, but they are each in my current rotation either in the morning or night.

1) Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser and Toner

In an effort to bring more clean beauty products to the store, I am testing different ones all the time. So far, I am really liking the Indie Lee products I’ve tried. If I keep reaching for them a week from now, they may end up in store soon.

2) Make-Up Eraser

This is still my choice for a first pass at removing eye makeup. I love this little cloth.

3) Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliant

When I see little flakes and I am tempted to use a physical exfoliator, I grab for this cream and use it where needed. It removes all the flakes and leaves smooth skin behind.

4) Skinceuticals Sunscreen

Every morning this is the last thing I put on before my makeup. I like a sheer sunscreen and even though I jump around, somehow I always go back to this one.

5) Cane and Austin 30% Peel Pads

These are my go-to pads when I really feel like my skin is looking dull: 30 days on and 30 days off.

6) Zelens Power A, Zelens Power D, Triple Action Eye Cream, Z-22 Oil, and 3T Complex Moisturizer

What can I say? As I’ve previously written about…I’m having a bit of a love affair at the moment with Zelens products. My skin seems to be really happy as a result, so for now…this is my jam.

7) Rilastil Re-Sleep Serum

The last thing I put on before bed every night. This serum hydrates and always makes me wake up looking better than when I went to sleep.

8) Emma Hardie Pre-Cleanse Balm

I try everything before I bring it in and if I keep using it regularly, it’s a good sign I’ll be ordering it for the store. I’ve been using a few of the Emma Hardie products consistently. You’ll likely see them show up in store soon, as well.

9) Skinceuticals C E Ferulic & H. A. Intensifier Serums

I am periodically guilty of letting my products run too low and then I desperately root around for samples. This happens to be one such occasion. Hence, the teeny tiny bottles.

10) Kiehl’s Buttermask Lip Treatment

Thick and creamy, it stays put all night and hydrates during cold winter days.

11) Supersmile Toothpaste and Accelerator

I can’t give up coffee and red wine, so I can’t give up Supersmile.

  • The latest from Angela
I have been a beauty junkie for what seems like forever, but before I did anything about it, I went to law school. (Yes, my life is a little like the reverse of Legally Blonde.) Then, I worked as a prosecutor in Sonoma County after which I moved to the DC area with my husband in ’97. I served as Majority Counsel to the Senate Banking Committee followed by a year-long stint at a lobbying firm. You get the picture. It was then that I decided to act on my dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Finding my favorite beauty products proved to be impossible without stepping foot in a mall–the horror. So, I decided to bring my favorites to Alexandria. A few trips to New York and a flight to France and Bellacara was born in March 2000.

Located in historic Old Town Alexandria, for more than 17 years Bellacara has been Northern Virginia's preeminent boutique for high end cosmetic, skincare and haircare products. At Bellacara you will find premiere beauty products that have been carefully edited by the store’s owner, Angela Sitilides, who personally tests all the products sold in store. The boutique carries only the best product lines – Kiehl’s, Jouer, Dr. Dennis Gross, Christophe Robin, Moroccan Oil, Bumble & Bumble, Fresh, Molton Brown, Skinceuticals, Smashbox, Stila, Mario Badescu, Clarins, Dermalogica, Kevyn Aucoin, Kai, Child, St. Tropez, Smith and Cult, and many more.

    Dear Angie,

I really appreciate your post, “What’s On My Counter’ thank YOU. We women need to help each other out. I am really partial to certain smells/fragrance and textures so I have odd needs for any thing I put on my body.

SKIN CARE: I wanted to share with you that for my skin care products, I too, am really liking Indie Lee’s products, ( ingredients, her story / vision / business plan)

I have been using her Brightening clenser, Exfoliating pads, Serum, Moisturizer ( my skin loves this) and Eye Serum. I have been using her line recently – November 2018. (I will say the cleanser is a bit drying, but it works for me)

For masks, I change up different lines depending on my need. I purchased a Kat Burki complete b Vital Hydration Face Mask about 4 weeks ago, and LOVE it. My skin runs mostly dry/combo probably from age,
    environment ANDThyroid issues.

MAKE UP: I have been using BYTerry and Kevin Acoin LOVE these two lines!!

BODY CARE: I have been sticking with Kiel’s pretty faithfully. Just the hand cream, body lotion and body oil.

    Thank you Ang,
