Spring Magic Returns to Monday’s Child

Hello Stylebook! I'm back. =)  I took some time off last year from contributing but I’m excited to be writing again —just in time for all the happy spring things. Not gonna lie, last year was a really challenging one for me on many fronts and I needed to hibernate a bit. But just like the daffodils starting to pop up, I’m feeling happy and hopeful and ready for SPRING!

Spring is our prime season and Easter is the pinnacle. A couple years back, Elizabeth Todd had the best idea of a throwback Easter photo contest and I instantly knew which photo I would include. A pretty white dress and my new light pink fold up “Blossom” hat from Why Not? I was F E E L I N G my Easter outfit and even to this day, I look back and think how special that beauty of an outfit was. I also felt the same loving pride in my smocked Cinderella Kindergarten graduation dress that had a little pearl for the glass slipper and still hangs in my bedroom closet at my parent’s house.

I can tell you that I felt the complete opposite feeling when I had to wear a hand-me-down 80s Laura Ashley dress for my first day of Cotillion in the late 90s when all of my friends were buying new outfits at BP. I still cringe looking at that dress. The outfit can make or break the day, even 30 years later...

My favorite part of owning Monday’s Child is bringing unique/happy/whimsical but classic clothing to my incredible customers. My hope is that you truly have a great experience picking out special pieces and I love seeing them play a tiny role in your family memories. That’s the beauty of our town and the beauty of the contributors to Stylebook; we curate unique and specialized shopping experiences tailored to you and your family. We are here to keep you from being basic.

With each buy, I feel like we know our customers better and better and each season we are bursting with our best yet…and that couldn’t be more true right now. We are in full-swing First Communion Season, we have Peter Rabbit coming to visit later this month and we are at peak pretty pastel inventory — ready to outfit you for the many special occasions (and also just cute everyday play) that you have coming up this spring and summer. And don't forget we have beautiful baby gifts that we are always happy to help you pick out and then wrap - and ship - if needed.

Here are some recent pics of our adorable Monday’s Children trying on new arrivals, you can shop our Easter favorites here.

If you’re free, hop on over to Monday’s Child on Saturday, March 23, we'll have a very special guest! Hope to see you soon.

Owner | Monday’s Child

Born and raised in Alexandria and married to a native Alexandrian as well! We love living in Old Town - just a few blocks from the store - with our three little boys and golden retriever Rumpelstiltzkin. Although my first job and real love was retail (the Lilly Pad where Mint Condition is now), I worked in Public Affairs and PR prior to buying the shop, which has really been a dream come true for me. I feel so grateful to work with our customers to find the perfect outfit for their special childhood moments. When I’m not at the store you can probably find me at an Old Town park chasing the boys or on my yoga mat.

A classic children’s boutique in Old Town, Alexandria for 40 years, we carry special occasion and play clothes for sizes newborn to 12. Located in the historic Crilley Warehouse just two blocks from the water, Monday’s Child is your go-to shop for baby gifts, baptism gowns, holiday dresses and outfits, boy’s blazers and ties, First Communion, shoes, books, toys and much more.
