Our Kitchen is the Place to Be

When Patina moved to 111 S. Columbus, we knew there would be loads more space for our vintage finds, furniture, lamps, art, and more. But we had no idea how much fun we were going to have with our full-fledged kitchen! We get to have a coffee/cookie corner and invite our customers to take some time to relax. We have a large TV on the wall and turn it on for special events – coronations, The Olympics, Saturday sports and we even have cold beverages at the ready!

We have so many cookbooks to check out that the kitchen is starting to look like a mini-bookstore, here’s a snapshot:

Our previous location was across the street from a food store, and we knew it wasn’t worth competing along those lines. We now carry Virginia Peanuts from Feridies which is a must-have for everyone living in the DMV, as well as our tourist customers. Sassy Mustard out of Georgia is so delicious and the easiest way to make every sandwich gourmet. Hot Honey, Hot Honey Sauce and raw honeycomb from Savannah Bee Company-Save the Bees! Hot honey is a blending of honey and chile peppers that offers a unique taste for drizzling on various foods. I love asking our customers how they like to use it; one gentleman shared he drizzles it on ice cream! And we have a cookbook specifically for hot honey recipes.

We have discovered some fun cooking items, cheese markers to go with our vintage charcuterie boards and let’s not forget all the French hens hanging out in the kitchen!

We invite you to visit our unique kitchen at Patina and all it has to offer!

Patina Polished Living was created 10 years ago by friends Amanda Mertins and Kimberly Weiler.

Amanda Mertins was born in Ohio and graduated the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics. She started moving and editing furniture and accessories while in grade school and hasn’t stopped since. She enjoys baking desserts and playing with her grandchildren.

Kim Weiler was born in Pennsylvania and graduated the University of the Arts with a degree in graphic design. Upon graduating, she was immediately hired by one of her professors at the Katz Wheeler Design firm. She loves design, gardening, sweet tea and all French bulldogs.

Amanda and Kim are excellent complements to one another-one could even say the Yin and Yang of design. Being very different people but with interconnected forces is the reason their partnership continues to flourish.
