Freda Salvador Returns to the Shoe Hive

We all need to thank Shannon for finally getting me to bring Freda Salvador back to The Shoe Hive. I wouldn’t say she begged, but she strongly hinted at the need to have it return for some time. Don’t get me wrong, I love Freda too, I’m just always hesitant to bring in a shoe line at the store. When it comes to shoes, if it doesn’t work, you can end up with a whole lotta shoes sitting in the back storage room, just waiting for a clearance sale.

Of course, Shannon was right and I was wrong. The return of Freda to The Shoe Hive has been a hit. Customers are happy, Shannon is happy, and that makes me very happy.

I’ve had a hard time not purchasing all the shoes. Since we didn’t get many of each style I’ve resisted, except for the flats – I had to have the black flats. The moc croc combat boot has been the most popular and the Bess and Brooke lug sole boots are always a bestseller for the brand. These two boots are great for the winter because not only are they comfortable, they’re water resistant. My teenage daughter is begging for the shearling mule, too. So as you can see, this line appeals to all ages.

Freda Salvador is based in Sausalito, California, founded by two friends, Cristina Nelson and Megan Papay. They met while designing for another accessory company and instantly became friends. Ten years later the company continues to thrive and they only produce their shoes in small factories in El Salvador, Italy and Spain. They are committed to quality and craftsmanship.

While the designs are slightly unconventional (which is what makes them so great) they are meant to live in a closet forever. By the way, if you’ve never been to Sausalito, you should go. It’s in easy-going Marin County on the San Francisco Bay, with an awesome view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco skyline. It’s not hard to see how you could make a cool, comfortable shoe line with that on your mind. I think you’ll sense the vibe when you look at the great designs we have in the store.

Come check out our fall selection, we have new arrivals from Freda coming in each month so there will be no shortage for Freda from now on at The Shoe Hive.
