Just Do It

I have always been a live and let live type of gal. I appreciate the differences we all have and understand that each one of us makes the best choice for ourselves and our family and that is what matters most.Goes for fashion too. Sometimes I may not like an outfit but it is a darn good choice for someone else. Kiskadee introduces new brands for that reason (see Zero Degrees Celsius and Astarsto appeal to all fashionistas. If you feel stellar and confident in your clothing of choice then excellent! No fashion critic, no style blogger, no Instagram influencer, no sideways glance from your next-door neighbor can steal it away from you. They are just jealous. You stepped outside their box. What brought this on? Fifty-year-old Celine Dion at Haute Couture Fashion Week in July. And me being 54. And arbitrary rules about how we are to look and dress in “middle age”…a weird fashion rule purgatory of not dressing too young or too old. However Celine is a true inspiration as she stepped out baring her arms, shoulders, and miles of legs (seriously miles) at 50!

I must say, I was shocked when I saw Celine step out in what is essentially a bathing suit. But I love it. The graphic print, the fabulous colors…could I do this at 54? Perhaps with pants I could! Celine did and I thank her for removing a societal barrier of pressure to cover up our bodies beginning at a certain age.

Okay, so not really couture, but Celine...she's just like us!  Stepping out in her "athleisure wear" we can’t get enough of, her's just happens to be Chanel. Celine rocks the bodysuit with no bum-covering sweatshirt!

Then came her Haute Couture show picks from Iris van Herpen and Alexandre Vauthier respectively. From shear to short and shoulder loving, Celine did not look back - she wore what she loved. The lesson to all of this is: our best fashion accessory will always be our confidence.
