Follow the Law of Viscosity: Layer, Baby. Layer.

You’re a beauty junkie. Or maybe you’re just trying to do the best you can to insure your face doesn’t betray your age. Either way, you have a lot of potions and it can sometimes be confusing as to which goes first and when.

As a general rule, we say follow the law of viscosity. In short hand, the thinner, more liquid the consistency…the first to be applied. Then the next thickest, and so on. Start with clean, dry skin and apply your serums first. What if you have more than one? (AHEM…Angela…Yes, you). Then start with the one meant to address something specific like hyperpigmentation or acne. Follow that with your general antioxidant serum...VITAMIN C!!!! Sorry, was I shouting? Now, take a break. Have some coffee or blow dry your hair. Wait for those serums to absorb in before following with your moisturizer then lastly sunscreen. A few minutes to let the products sink in will prevent them from rolling off your face or pilling up. Brush your teeth or have another cup of coffee.Next, it’s primer time! Dab a bit of primer all over your face. Use an eye primer and my latest holy grail – lip primer. I finally found one I love that lasts! I’d tell you which one, but it won’t have arrived by the time this post runs so check back on that. Now, makeup. I know the sheer number of steps has frightened a multitude of you away, but seriously. You have to dry your hair or have breakfast or put pants on. Just break up your potions in between those have-to-do things and your product is sure to be far more effective.
