2020 Home Resolutions

It’s that time of year again! We make resolutions for everything in our lives from fitness, health, and beauty. It’s sometimes easy to forget to include our home in that process. It’s not only the beginning of a new year, but a new decade, so we think it’s the perfect time to also get your home in the best shape possible. The best part? These resolutions don’t have to be unrealistic and can actually be fun! Here are some simple tips for new home beginnings in the new year:

Clear the Clutter

Bring out your inner Marie Kondo and if it doesn’t bring you joy, get rid of it! We don’t have time for clutter in 2020. Clutter makes homes look dated and dirty. This is also an inexpensive way to instantly feel better mentally and physically in the new year. Go room by room, so it doesn’t seem daunting and simply clear out anything you don’t use. You can donate most things to a local charity. Trust us, clear counters will instantly brighten your mood in the new year!

Safe and Sound

Your home may be beautiful, but safety is important too. Now is a great time to start creating an annual checklist of things to maintain. Set up those tests, check fire detectors, install a carbon monoxide detector, check chimney flue, and furnace vents. Maintaining and updating these things may not only save lives, but will also prevent costly future home renovations.

Let Me Entertain You

A great new year’s goal is to spend as much time as you can with family and friends. Making sure your home is ready for entertaining is a great motivator to invite people over for those dinner parties or be ready for the pop-in visits. This can be anything from rearranging rooms’ furniture, updating those big pieces, or seriously start saving for that new kitchen remodel. You don’t have to break the bank by simply adding new accent rugs, paintings, or pillows. These can help anchor a room and bring in some fun pops of color!
