2023 Color Forecast Is Coming In Hot!
The forecast for 2023 hair color trends is coming in hot and the looks might just be some of my favorite (probably because they are pulling at my millennial heart strings). It feels like we spent a decade in cool tones for hair color but this year it’s all about warmth! 🔥
Auburn and copper shades are definitely dominating the scene right now. In the winter they are going deeper and darker, and in the summer they will be just a bit lighter. Their versatility makes for a flawless seasonal transition!
For brunettes I’m seeing a lot of pure chocolate tones with barely their dimension, and also gorgeous cherry and cinnamon hues which can be the perfect way to transform your look into something a little spicier.
Blonde hair is taking a more neutral to golden hue, think champagne and honey. I’m seriously loving these tones!
Looking at color placement and technique, balayage is still queen, but with higher contrast—think lowlights from the 90s and early 00s. I know an image of Kelly Clarkson circa 2002 came crashing into your mind and you’re thinking “oh hell no,” but this look is much more blended with a nice contrast of highs and lows and way less zebra.
Another pattern I’m seeing is color blocking which plays on the beloved money piece but with bigger and bolder placement. I’m seeing this done with more neutral and natural shades opposed to vivids, but you pick whatever tickles your fancy!
If color isn’t in your cards, here’s a round up of this year’s haircuts and styles:
Curtain bangs are still reigning supreme as just about anybody can wear them. This look is longer than a traditional fringe, which make it a low commitment for people who aren’t ready or don’t want a full-on fringe. I am also seeing a lot of wispy fringe. The difference between a full fringe and a wispy fringe is a wispy fringe is very soft with lots of texture.
An oh-so-classic bob that is more focused on straight lines and angles opposed to layers to make a striking statement.
The modern shag that is meant to look effortless and embraces your natural texture, don’t we all love minimal effort! The features of this cut are choppy ends, layers at the crown and lots of texture. I’m loving the versatility of this look! It’s a shape that works with any length of hair. Whether you have naturally curly hair and lean into that or you opt to blow it out, this shape can look very punk rock or Hollywood glam whichever you are feeling that day!
Styled big bouncy blowouts are taking the place of beach waves and it’s all about natural curls and coils—if you’ve got it, flaunt it!
If you are looking for something new to kick off the new year, talk to your stylist (or me 😘) about any of these colors, cuts, or techniques!
