Ada’s On The River is Now Open… and BARCA Pier & Wine Bar is Coming Soon!

You’ve probably already heard talk of or walked past the new development in Robinson’s Landing. Well, Ada’s On The River has officially opened its doors and BARCA Pier & Wine Bar is soon to follow this spring! Late January 2021, Ada’s On The River gave Alexandrians a taste of something new. Next door to Ada’s, BARCA Pier & Wine Bar is preparing to open with a twist on al fresco dining, constructed in the ever popular industrial-chic style using repurposed shipping containers!   Ada’s On The River and BARCA Pier & Wine Bar are brought to us from the same company that owns and operates Old Town favorites, Mia’s Italian Kitchen, Vola’s Dockside Grill & Hi-Tide Lounge, and The Majestic. Inspired by female mathematician Ada Lovelace, Ada’s interior hosts original artworks of various contemporaries, including Jane Austen, Mary Shelly, and Emily and Charlotte Bronte. Keeping in theme, Ada supports local community organizations; Rosie Riveters and the Alexandria Scholarship Fund. Both directly benefiting from Ada’s 2021 philanthropic efforts, the former providing a space for young girls in STEM and the latter raising funds to support college advising and scholarships for students of Alexandria City Public Schools with financial need.  You can expect a culinary style “based in classical French technique with a contemporary comfort approach,” according to Ada’s Chef Matthews. The menu offers a selection of steaks, fresh seafood, and vegetarian entrees to pair with delicious side dishes and an extensive beer and wine list. Menu highlights include Lamb Carpaccio, Grilled Octopus, Coal Fired Mushroom Lasagna, Live Maine Lobster, and Custom-Aged Prime Beef. Ada’s also offers brunch on the weekends. I can’t decide between the Fried Chicken Biscuit, Lemon & Ricotta Pancakes, or the Smoked Salmon Benedict. Yum yum!Ada’s sister restaurant, BARCA Pier & Wine Bar, will be a more intimate dining experience for small plates and handhelds influenced by coastal Spain and Mediterranean cuisine. In the warmer months, BARCA will be the place to be for outdoor dining. We are so excited for this location overlooking the river and its atmosphere, modeled as a modern version of traditional Spanish beach bars. And, of course, we’re excited to try BARCA’s extensive wine selection and craft cocktails!
