An Evening of Photography, Community, and Inspiration at Nepenthe Gallery
One of the things I love most about being a photographer is the community that comes with it. There are endless numbers of artists who continually inspire one another, push creative boundaries, and share a passion for capturing the world through the lens of a camera. That spirit of creativity and collaboration is exactly what makes an upcoming exhibition at Nepenthe Gallery so exciting.
On March 26th, Nepenthe will host a remarkable exhibition titled “Resonance: Perspectives Through the Lens.” The collection comes from the American Society of Photographers (ASP), an international society of professional photographic artists dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of creativity, ethics, and technical excellence in photography.
“A Hopeful Cast” by Andy Lay
It is so exciting for American Society of Photographers to have our Resonance Collection at Nepenthe Art Gallery in my favorite place, Alexandria! It truly ties together so many things I cherish in life and photography. People creating and growing a community, artists sharing their creativity and a space to share with others — bringing joy and inspiration to our photography world! Serving as a Governor on the ASP Board has given me an opportunity to work with creative and talented photographers who set a beautiful tone for our industry...and are friends! We must always remember the importance of growing and sharing in a positive light!
The Resonance exhibition features 51 pieces created by 41 artists, each bringing their own artistic perspective and interpretation of the world. The diversity of styles and subjects creates a rich viewing experience that highlights just how expansive photography can be as an art form. But what makes this exhibit particularly unique is how the photographs are presented.

The works move beyond traditional prints, incorporating a variety of materials such as wood, metal, and even gold leaf backings. These innovative presentations add depth and dimension, transforming each photograph into a tactile and immersive piece of art.
The theme “Resonance” speaks to something every photographer hopes for—that an image will continue to live with the viewer long after it is first seen.Rather than offering just a fleeting moment of visual impact, these photographs invite viewers to spend time with them. As you pause and take in the details, new interpretations and emotions can emerge.
It’s a reminder that photography isn’t simply about capturing a moment—it’s about creating images that continue to resonate over time.

Events like these are such a wonderful opportunity to gather with fellow creatives, art lovers, and members of the community to celebrate visual storytelling. Whether you’re a photographer, an art enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates beautiful imagery, this exhibition promises an inspiring evening surrounded by thoughtful and compelling work.
It is an honor to have my image "Danse de la Fleur" in this exhibit and for our Alexandria/DC community to see the fine art side of our studio.
We hope that everyone joins us for the opening on Thursday, March 26th at Nepenthe Gallery from 6:00-7:30 PM to experience this magical exhibition. Enjoy a glass of wine, explore the gallery, and spend time with images created by photographers who are passionate about their craft.
Moments like these remind us how powerful photography can be—not just in capturing life, but in bringing people together through art.
