April Showers and May Flowers
I’m here to tell you that I don’t like to garden. I don’t like to get dirty, and I don’t have the attention span to keep anything alive. However, I applaud those folks who do. I mean, I get how someone would love to garden. Seeing a seed become a flower or a vegetable is nothing short of awe-inspiring. It never ceases to amaze me when pretty plants emerge from the ground, the azaleas bloom, or a fern gently unrolls its fronds. While I know it’s coming, I’m always surprised that it happens. Not sure if that makes me a glass half empty or half full person.
Even though I don’t want to garden - I leave all the landscaping up to my husband and other trained professionals - it’s still important to me to have a lush lawn and lovely flowers. I just want someone else to do them. With all the garden clubs and historic garden weeks, I recognize that I’m in the minority around here, and that’s okay. For all those in the majority who do love to garden, we went all out for you this year. Normally we would have a few pots to sell, but this year we wanted to bring you more than that. We wanted to give you tools to create a beautiful garden from soup to nuts - or rather seed to flowers.
Again this year, we are bringing you the sweetest flowerpots around. In classic terracotta and a cool shade of gray, your plants will enjoy taking root in these lovely abodes. (Because they are too delicate to ship, they are available in the store only.) To go with the pots, we brought in seeds for pollinator gardens, foraging bags for carrying back to the kitchen all your bounty, natural insect repellants to ward away those pesky no-see-ums, gardener’s soap, and nail brushes tough enough to clean even the dirtiest hands, and shears, sheaths, and scoops for planting and maintaining your beautiful gardens be they of the vegetable or flower variety.
Here are just a few of the offerings you can find on our Gifts for the Gardener website collection.
Whether you’re a veteran or a novice gardener, I tip my hat to you and hope that you enjoy the fruits of your labor this year and every year after!
