At The Top Of The Wishlist

We love talking about trends here on Alexandria Stylebook. Although trends come and go, we are sure these home desires are here to stay. So, what does it take to be an "of the moment" home? For some, convenience and future planning to "age in place" are driving factors, while for others, resale and keeping up with technology are favored. Sotheby's International Realty tracks the very best, and our team likes to track the very best of Alexandria. Continue reading to learn about the top desires and features of an "of-the-moment" home:

Garage With Storage

Keeping clutter out of the main house is key. Buyers look for storage options and opportunities to make better use of space. If a garage has room for equipment like tools, snowblowers, sports equipment, or a lawnmower, the utility of that space is enhanced

First-Floor Full Bath

We know a main-level bedroom has been at the top of the wish list for many of our clients. But the main-level full bath is right up there, too! These full baths are great for a quick and easy place to clean up the dirty paws of your pets instead of tracking their dirt all the way upstairs. Of course, it will expand options to provide for guests and visiting family. It's all about opportunities to "age in place."

Eat-in Kitchen

Buyers are all about efficiency. Task lighting, plenty of storage, pantry space, built-in coffee counter areas, and food prep spaces are all the rage for a kitchen. After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home!

True Primary Suite

The best primary bedrooms may include large walk-in closets (yes, that's plural), a sitting area with a fireplace, a private patio or balcony, and luxurious bathroom features with a walk-in shower and a soaking tub.

Home Offices and Outdoor Living

We can probably thank quarantine for this one. If it wasn't already obvious, people are working from home and want a dedicated space to do so! Homeowners looking for Zoom-friendly spaces have converted unused corners, attics, and rooms into home offices. Additionally, outdoor living is still on the rise. Many families got puppies over quarantine and now need more space for the all-grown-up pet to spend time freely. Even without a fresh-air-loving pup, outdoor space is welcomed to break the pattern of spending all our time inside. Along with outdoor space, privacy is important! A fence or good tree coverage is always favorable to provide an extra level of comfort and privacy.
