Beauty Clean Out for “Good”
The beginning of the year often comes with resolutions. Many that surround changing your habits, getting in shape and getting organized. Perhaps it’s the excesses of the holiday season (too much food, too many nights out, too much stuff), but the beginning of the year seems to make most of us want a fresh start. Cleaning out offices, closets, and drawers gives us the ability to turn a page.I recently found myself in this situation and wondered where I could donate my excess beauty products. Some have never been used, but some I used once to try it and decided it wasn’t for me. It seemed a waste to toss it in that situation, but would anyone take it? I decided to find out. Below is a list of places that will happily accept your donations.
Beauty Bus
Beauty Bus offers support to terminally ill patients and caregivers through beauty, including bags of products, at home-services, and pop up salons at hospitals and social service centers. They accept new, un-opened and un-expired products. They are unable to accept fragrances, deodorant, razors, and makeup bags.Beauty Bus Foundation2716 Ocean Park Boulevard, Suite 1062Santa Monica, CA 90405
Dress for Success
Along with providing clothing, Dress for Success provides grooming products as well. They would love to have your un-opened and unused cosmetics and toiletry products that are within 6 months of their expiration date.
Share Your Beauty
With the goal of putting a bit of sparkle and dignity back into the lives of women and teens in crisis, the Share Your Beauty program taps into the huge surplus of beauty products generated by the beauty industry, by collecting unused products and delivering them to organizations serving women in crisis. They’ll happily accept your new, unopened, unexpired cosmetics, hair and skincare products, and personal care items.Share Your BeautyFamily-to-FamilyPO Box 255Hastings on Hudson, NY 10706
Project Beauty Share
This organization “collects personal hygiene, cosmetics, and beauty products and distributes them through non-profit organizations that serve women and families overcoming abuse, addiction, homelessness and poverty.”They will accept gently used products: powder eyeshadows, powder blush, bronzers, and highlighters; eye and lip liner pencils that can be sharpened; liquid foundations in airless pump and squeeze tube containers. Anything else must be new. Skin care and hair care products in squeeze tube or pumps can be used as well. Unused and un-opened items in jars are also welcome.Project Beauty Share2718 E. Sprague AvenueSpokane, WA 99202 In researching all this I was overcome by how many organizations really need your unused beauty items. I know it may be a bit of a hassle to pack up one or two items, but altogether we can make an impact. To encourage you to give instead of toss, Bellacara will have a beauty donation drive. Because we don’t have the capacity to inspect used products, we are requesting only new items be donated. Everyone who donates their unused cosmetic, skin care, or hair care items during our donation drive will receive 10 percent off their purchases that day and be entered into a raffle for a $200 gift certificate to the store. So, please consider bringing your unused items to the store January 25th for our Beauty Donation Drive. Let’s make this beauty clean out a “good” one.
