Bellacara Goes Online

For years, I have been asked why I don’t sell online. At first, the answer was simple, I wasn’t permitted by my vendors. I was too small, and they had arrangements with bigger retailers. As the years went on, it was because I couldn’t compete with the bigger retailers on shipping and providing an eCommerce platform that was easy to use. Building an eCommerce website back then was staggeringly expensive, and the integration into the retail platform even more so. But as the years have passed, technology has improved, and it’s become much easier for small retailers to create an eCommerce platform. Still, I was a bit set in my ways. Then Covid hit. So, many of you amazing customers supported me, and Bellacara, through the worst of it. You called from Florida, you called from Texas, you called from blocks away. You called… and you placed your orders. I can’t thank you enough for that. Many of you commented that you would have ordered more or earlier if it had been a little easier. You meant to call, but by the time we opened, you were off doing other things, and when you settled back down, we were closed. If only you could order online when you were thinking about it. You were right. It was time. And that time has arrived.Bellacara is online! As a thank you to everyone who stood by me on my long journey to the 21 century, I would like to offer a discount of 15 percent off your first online purchase. I am sure we’ll encounter some kinks in the system as this is all new, so hopefully, you’ll let us know what those are as we brave this new world.I’m very excited, and I can’t thank you enough for bearing with me all these years!

I have been a beauty junkie for what seems like forever, but before I did anything about it, I went to law school. (Yes, my life is a little like the reverse of Legally Blonde.) Then, I worked as a prosecutor in Sonoma County after which I moved to the DC area with my husband in '97. I served as Majority Counsel to the Senate Banking Committee followed by a year-long stint at a lobbying firm. You get the picture.

It was then that I decided to act on my dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Finding my favorite beauty products proved to be impossible without stepping foot in a mall--the horror. So, I decided to bring my favorites to Alexandria. A few trips to New York and a flight to France and Bellacara was born in March 2000.
