There’s nothing quite like the combination of eggs, bacon, cheese and a hard roll to start your day off right. Whether you’re looking for an easy-going Saturday breakfast, or easing into Sunday after a late night out, breakfast sandwiches might just be the king of morning meals. This powerful canvas of carbohydrates is also the perfect vessel for creativity. New Jersey has pork roll, Alabama has biscuits, and Vermont uses cheddar. What is Alexandria’s go-to? Luckily, we live in a diverse community where, whether you’re craving buttermilk biscuits or a buttery brioche, we have the best variety of America’s best breakfast between bread.  

Stomping Ground

Two words: comfort food. Stomping Ground is a Del Ray staple. There is nothing quite like their beautifully flaky, golden biscuits. What’s even better? Turning those biscuits into a masterpiece breakfast sandwich. Make your own with Hook’s Cheddar Cheese, poached eggs, seasonal vegetables, house sausage, Benton’s Bacon or Black Forest Ham and smashed avocado. You can also go with the go-to called “the Classic,” which is fried chicken, pimento cheese and pickles. Don’t mind us, we’ll just be over here dreaming of biscuits all day.

 Breakfast is served all day long here, which is honestly something dreams are made of. This family owned and operated deli has been a staple in the Mount Vernon Area for more than 20 years. Options seem limitless here because you have more than 30 different additions you can add to their five breakfast sandwiches. This friendly shop will also treat your stomach and wallet right.

Jack’s Place 

 You know if “Eggcelent Sandwiches” is a menu category then it’s going to be good. Jack’s Place does not disappoint. The friendly staff and freshly squeezed orange juice all add to the experience. Try the “Usual” complete with a fried egg, crisp bacon, american cheese, lettuce and tomato. Feelin’ hungry? Order the “Mouth That Roared,” which is a triple decker of two fried eggs, lean ham and American cheese. The diner is cozy, so make sure to arrive early!
