Summer is Undeniably a Season of Gift-giving

Now that Boxwood has established itself on King Street, I want to express my gratitude to all our Stylebook readers for supporting us. Your purchases, comments, visits, and positive reinforcement have reassured us that moving our little boutique to Upper King was the right decision. Thank you!

Since moving, we've been inundated with requests for gift ideas, ranging from what to bring when staying with friends who have a home on the water, to finding the perfect hostess gifts for summer gatherings, to selecting a unique birthday present for a girlfriend who seems to have everything. Although the holiday season isn't quite upon us, summer is undeniably a season of gift-giving.

If you're looking forward to traveling this summer and staying with family or friends, and you want to show your appreciation in a special and thoughtful manner, we have the perfect gift for you. These are items that will last much longer than that bottle of wine and will be a nice reminder of you whenever they see it in their home.

Here are some recommendations:

As the sunny weather invites us to gather outdoors, many people are embracing the opportunity to host pool parties, al fresco luncheons, and backyard barbecues. If you’re heading to one of these delightful gatherings, consider bringing a special gift to express your gratitude to the hostess.

The "Painted Ladies of Alexandria” Tea Towel and Notecards feature enchanting illustrations by Aurelle Baudry Palmer, a talented French illustrator based in London. Boxwood is delighted to surround ourselves with Aurelle's beautiful artwork, and we were thrilled to have her as a special guest at one of our "Meet the Artist" events last year. The "Painted Ladies of Alexandria" refer to a group of four charming Victorian sister homes located on the 500 block of South Fairfax Street.

At Boxwood, more and more customers are searching for that special gift for a wedding, birthday, anniversary, or special occasion they are attending this summer. These gifts can be both exciting and a bit challenging to find— talk about tastes, lifestyle, budget, hobbies, personalization, etc. Here are a few more suggestions that cover the gamut of those things:

And one of my personal favorites is Kollab’s picnic bag or picnic mat paired with acrylic champagne glasses. What encourages a delightful summer outing more than a picnic? Ok, so maybe they won’t use it until the temps dip below 90 degrees…but those enjoyable summer days spent outside are coming…I promise.

Come on in and see our new finds (and new digs), and of course, call us or order online if you can’t make it in. We want you to be the most memorable guest!
