A Surprise Hit and Bestseller: Cordless Lamps by Zafferano

Perhaps you’ve seen them when you’ve stepped into Boxwood. They’re about 10 to 15 inches high, come in a variety of colors, and with a gentle tap on the base they provide a nice stream of light. They can be used as accents, on bookshelves, for outdoor dining on your terrace or backyard. I just never thought – they would be one of our bestsellers – but the cordless lamps by Zafferano have been flying off our shelves since introduction.

The COVID-19 pandemic affected Boxwood in many ways, and one significant mark was the introduction of these cordless lamps designed by Zafferano. It was July 2019, when my business partner Leah and I attended a buying show in Dallas. Towards the end of a tiring day of shopping, as we were leaving the showroom, I noticed a small 10x20 booth with modern cordless lamps displayed. Despite Leah's suggestion to come back the next day, I didn’t listen. If you know me, I couldn’t wait. We ended up placing our first order with Zafferano that day. At that moment, we were unsure if these cordless lamps would sell. Would our customers like them as much as we did? Turns out much more!

Fast forward six months, COVID hit, and everyone had to entertain outdoors, and you bet, everyone wanted cordless lighting for their outdoor kitchens, sitting areas, and tables. Customers were contacting us constantly for the Zafferano lamps, and then even more after the New York Times published an article about the stylish “Pina” lamps being in every NYC restaurant.

We have been selling Zafferano cordless lamps for five years now, and they are still our number one selling product at Boxwood. After working closely with this product line, I understand why it's so popular. Zafferano is constantly keeping up with trends by introducing new lamp designs, styles, and colors. And what we love about the lamps, not only can you use them for entertaining outdoors, but they look amazing on bookshelves (check out the Mini-Swap and new Pushup lamps), entry hall tables (check out the Poldina-Tall or Mini),  Home and Pina Lamps for outdoor dining and gardens and for school desks (check out the Poldina-L Desk Lamp – another new lamp introduced this year).  My daughter’s favorite lamp for her bedroom is the colorful Olivia Mini Lamp.

Come see the trend of Zafferano cordless lamps next time you’re in Old Town and grab one for yourself at Boxwood. Your collection may start growing—just like our own!
