Current Obsessions

I love when customers come into the store and ask, “what is amazing that I don’t even know I need, but I need?” It’s fun. We run around the store and I show them all the things I love and can’t imagine a day without. Some things work for them and some things don’t, but I love the curiosity and the adventurous approach. It’s the same approach I take when I walk into The Hive or The Shoe Hive.These women who work in the store are surrounded by fashion. They have seen countless customers try on different items and they know what is awesome on everyone and what looks better on than on the hanger. So, when I walk in I ask, “what’s awesome that I can’t see?” Inevitably, they pull things that I would have overlooked.I don’t buy as many things as I once did, but I buy better things than I used to. Those items last longer, feel better, and get far more use than the trendier, less expensive items. I recently bought a pair of flats from The Shoe Hive that I have worn so many times that I think they have already cost me less than $15 a day and I haven’t had them long. In a couple of weeks they will actually have paid for themselves. They feel like little clouds on my feet. Amazing.That’s how I feel about many items at Bellacara right now. You all know how I feel about Skinceuticals vitamin C. I won’t waste time on that obsession or the H.A. Intensifier, which one of my clients just referred to as a superhero of moisturizers. Rather, I’d like to give a shout out to some unsung heroes. Namely, Surratt Beauty foundation and Lipslique lipstick.Since the day I got the line, I have been obsessed with Surratt Beauty. I cannot go a day without using the Lipslique lipsticks. They feel like a lip balm, wear like a lipstick, last like a stain, and have the sheen of a gloss. Once you buy one, you’ll want another one. I now have three and am straining not to take another home. Why? Because we are selling them like crazy. I cannot afford to deplete the stock. Anyone who has bought one has bought several. Not all at the same time. They buy one and come back and say, “I need another or a couple more.”The line as a whole is fantastic, but the foundation is amazing! I recently had an A-list celebrity in store who was intent on a Surratt foundation. I do mean A-list. The kind of celebrity whose name doesn’t take a Google search. You know who she is and she is gorgeous! She had used it before and wanted another. Unfortunately, she was in between shades and we couldn’t in good conscience let her walk out with the wrong shade. But it made me realize that I was not alone in feeling like that this was an amazing product. As I get older, I want a foundation that makes me look my best without being able to tell that I’m wearing foundation. That’s a tough hurdle. This foundation clears that hurdle with soaring heights.I’m also loving the Maya Chia highlighters. I have to give props to my former manager, Elizabeth, for this one. She stopped into the store one day and looked positively ethereal. Okay, she’s a beautiful girl. But the highlighter she had on took that beauty to another level. She mentioned it was Maya Chia. Of course, after she left I started playing with the highlighters and not a single day has gone by that I don’t wear one.I could go on and on. Right now we have so much new merchandise coming in for the holidays that I scarcely know where to begin. I have a new skincare line coming soon that I have loved, bought at retail for months, used every item until I was scraping it from the jar or bottle until finally I could say, it’s time to bring it to Bellacara. I have new tools that I use every day or every other day that I will soon bring to Bellacara as well because they actually do what they say they will and they are LIFE CHANGING. I reserve LIFE CHANGING, for LIFE CHANGING! Stay tuned, because this is going to be good.Ladies, when you look good, you feel good. We may not like it, but it’s a fact. Glowing skin, a fierce red lip, voluminous locks…whatever it is that makes you stand taller, walk more confidently, smile wider…you’re worth it. Do you need it Absolutely not. You do not need it. You are beautiful without a thing. That’s the truth. But if you want it, because it makes you feel good, then we have some things we love that we think you’ll love, too.
