Custom Natural Fiber Rugs Now at Red Barn Mercantile

I am beyond excited to announce that we can now offer custom-sized natural fiber rugs at Red Barn Mercantile! You asked for it, and we can finally deliver and deliver big. We are thrilled to welcome Fibreworks to our selection of amazing rugs. Dash & Albert obviously is our first love, but what Fibreworks brings to the table is something special. Besides custom sizing, they bring a ton of texture and sustainability. The majority of their collection is made from all-natural fibers that are biodegradable and Earth-friendly. Today, I wanted to share with you this beautiful new line while explaining all the pros and cons of natural fibers.

Fiberworks specializes in sisal, jute, seagrass, wool, and wool blend area rugs. They do have broadloom – meaning wall-to-wall – carpeting, but that selection is limited. Texture is their other specialty. The vast majority of their collections come in neutral tones like khaki, grey, and brown, which allows the texture of the natural fibers to be the star. Using tone-on-tone patterns, Fiberworks turns the humble sisal up to eleven on the chic factor dial. There are 96 collections in their catalog, and we are pleased to bring you a curated selection of 20 of their best work. Of course, we can always order more swatches if you’d like to see something we don’t have. Here is a bit more information on the pros and cons of each natural fiber. I will say that I put wall-to-wall wool carpeting in my basement and have personal experience with the cons, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. [nemus_slider id="85382"]Stop in the store today to check out Fibreworks and all their natural beauty. They are perfect on their own or layered under antique statement rugs. If you’d like to see them in your space, we encourage customers to check them out. It’s always best to see them in your light, with your paint, finishes, and fabrics!

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations. Inspired by the art of personal correspondence, the power of handwritten notes, and the smell of freshly printed stationery, we surround ourselves with quirky, hilarious, and classically beautiful things to make life a little brighter.
