Good.Works.Wednesday x Spring2ACTion

Wednesday is Spring2ACTion so get your wallets ready! Hosted by ACT for Alexandria, Spring2ACTion is Alexandria’s annual day of giving. More than 150 non-profits are taking part this year in an effort to collectively raise more than $1.5 million.

How can you do your part?

First, find your favorite charity and give them as much as you can. Here is the list of all the organizations participating this year.Second, shop at Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post. This year, we are thrilled to be partnering with ACT for Alexandria for the city’s largest charitable event through Good.Works.Wednesday, our giving program that we launched last year. Every Wednesday we give 20 percent of your purchase to the charity of your choice. Simply mention your charity and we will do the rest. For this year’s Spring2ACTion we will be giving two $500 prizes – one from Penny Post and one from Red Barn Mercantile – to the charities that have the most designations in each store on April 25th. We will be awarding those prizes, along with the money raised from your purchases, online that day so it will go to your charity’s leader board.

What’s a leader board and why do I care?

You care because it means more money for your favorite cause. One of the fun things about Spring2ACTion is that there is a friendly competition for prize money. (For a list of all the prizes go here.) For instance, the organization that raises the most money total will win an additional $5,000 in prize money. And, the organization that has the most individual donors also will win a $5,000 prize. So, you see, there is plenty of incentive to give on April 25th.We are excited to do our part to help all the organizations that work so hard to lift up Alexandria. Without their tireless work and your generous giving, this city and its residents would not be as amazing as they are today. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do and look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
