Holiday Happenings at Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post

We are so excited about what we have planned for you next month! I’m going to cut to the chase and just spell each one out for you below. We look forward to seeing – and serving – you this holiday season!!

At Red Barn Mercantile:

Dash & Albert + Pine Cone Hill Sale: 'Tis the season for a little extra savings from Dash & Albert and Pine Cone Hill. Between November 22 and December 6, all in-stock and special-order Dash & Albert rugs and Pine Cone Hill bedding is 25% off. Get a quick guest room refresh in with new bedding and rugs and save a few dollars! As always, come by to pick out a few rugs (or bedding fabric samples) you like, take them home to see them in your space, then come back and order what you need. It’s a great process that allows you to feel comfortable with such a large purchase.  An Evening with Lauren Liess: We are so thrilled to welcome Northern Virginia’s design darling and HGtv star, Lauren Liess, to the store on December 5 from 6pm - 8pm for a special evening of design discussion, sips and snacks, and book signing. Lauren will be on hand to answer your design questions and sign a copy of her new book, Down to Earth: Laid-back Interiors for a Modern Life. It’s a beautiful tome featuring Lauren’s signature nature-vintage-family-inspired designs. Register here to reserve your place in line and order your book if you need one!  Conflicted Pixie Pop Up: On December 8 from 12pm - 3pm, Erica Deputy, the creative force behind Conflicted Pixie, will be popping up at Red Barn Mercantile with her fun and colorful bead necklaces and accessories. She will have a big selection on hand for you to pick up as the perfect gift for most anyone on your list!

At Penny Post:

Correspondence Club: Our monthly letter writers date night is December 4 from 6pm - 8pm. If you love to write letters or want to get your holiday cards out early this year, then stop by for a little letter-writing fellowship and fun!  Postcard Pop Up at the Boat Parade: Once again, on December 7 from 5pm - 8pm the team from Penny Post will be popping up at the Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights with all the supplies you need to write a letter to a friend or your wish list to Santa. You bring the address book and we will bring the supplies you need, including the mailbox!  Free Monogram on Appointed Notebooks: Special order an Appointed notebook between Dec. 6 - 18, and we will have them monogrammed for free. Made locally, Appointed notebooks are a thoughtful gift for teachers, corporate giving, your bestie, and your favorite localvore. They are one of our favorites and will quickly become one of yours, I promise!

At Both Stores:

Everyone’s a Winner: Our Everyone’s a Winner gold and silver surprise envelopes were such a hit last year that we are bringing them back again. Starting December 1, we will be handing out our very special envelopes with every purchase at both stores. Hold on to these until January then bring them back unopened to see what you win. Prizes include a $100 gift card, a dollar amount off your purchase, or a free gift with purchase. And, this year, we really upped our free gift game so you’re gonna want to cross your fingers for one of those!  Finally, this is the big weekend – Plaid Friday and Small Business Saturday. As laid out in last week’s post we have a plethora of fantastic events planned. We hope to see you bright and early on Friday for some big savings and then again on Saturday for some fun Scavenger Hunting. In the meantime, we at Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post hope you have the happiest of Thanksgivings!
