Instagram Inspiration…You’re Welcome.

A while ago Elizabeth wrote a great post about her favorite podcasts. I’m always on the lookout – or earout, if that’s a thing – for a new podcast so was grateful to her for that post. Also, I’m always on the lookout for new inspiration for every aspect of my life. To find it I spend an inordinate amount of time thumbing through Instagram, my favorite social media drug of choice. So, like Elizabeth, I thought I’d share a few of my favorites. In this case, the Instagram accounts that I enjoy most. They range from interior designers, to artists, to photographers, to editors. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

For the Home

By now you should be following all the talented ladies in our Design Collective. If not, then take a moment to follow Kristin TryAlison GieseRegan Billingsley, and Lindsay Boudreaux. For more inspiration, I love the California cool style of Amber Lewis, the Pacific Northwest ease of @Brian.Paquette_, the textile genius of @PeterDunhamTextiles, and the chic streamlined feel of Brooklyn’s @ChangoandCo. And, in my second life I want to be @AmyTastley, the Editor in Chief of Architectural Digest. On her feed she is serving up a double dose of inspiration with her personal style and extraordinary interiors.

Local Favorites

This list is generally pretty long, but I’ll keep it to just a few. First up is @LaurenLiess, Northern Virginia’s design star. What she can do with neutrals makes me go weak in the knees. Maryland’s favorite British export @KateAbtDesign is always throwing up fabulous photos from her own work and work of others she admires. And, from the District, Nole Garey of @BeautifulPaper curates one helluva paper feed. I call her the paper queen and when you see her feed you’ll know why. Alexandria’s own @LauraDowlingTheFlorist feed is full of the most beautiful couture flower creations ever made, and Arlington’s Italian chef extraordinaire, Domenica Marchetti, is always cooking up something eye-popping and mouthwatering on her feed @DomenicaCooks

Miscellaneous

One of our all-time favorite paper people, Emily McDowell, just launched a new feed called @EmilyOnLife, where she hand-letters life lessons and observations that are authentic and relatable. Photographer @PaulNicklen captures wildlife living above and below the water at their most majestic. Wendy Euler of @GoodbyeCropTop really owns her age and her sense of style. She makes getting to 50 truly fabulous. Making the list is my boyfriend and favorite eye candy, @MarkRuffalo. He was the best Hulk ever and I will fight anyone who says differently. And, last but not least is the irreverent writer – and husband to stylist Brad Goreski – @GaryJanetti. He sends up the Royals in a wonderfully snarky fashion and understands my secret desire to be invited but not have to go. If you don’t follow him, I’m not sure we can be friends.I hope you enjoy these. If you’re on Instagram, check out these feeds ASAP. You’ll be glad you did. And, if you have some favorite feeds that you’d like to share, we at Alexandria Stylebook would love to hear them!
