Introducing After Hours at Alx&Co.
2021 was a big test year for us, the test being whether an appointment-based model would work for our business. Well, with the year completely over, we can confidently say this: it absolutely does, and we’re sticking to it. But we do understand that appointments make us a bit less approachable for the casual visitor. So, we’re thrilled to announce a new series of After Hours events that are bound to pique your interest…
Our After Hours Series will be a collection of casual presentations and get-to-know-you events that will serve as the perfect jumping-off point for those curious casual visitors. See our studio and meet Tim and myself as we talk through the finer points of designing the finer things - but not just jewelry!
Next Thursday, we’re kicking off our Alx&Co. After Hours Series as a joint presentation with our friend James D’Arcy, a brand ambassador for one of the finest houses in luxury spirits, The Edrington Group. Through conversations about our respective companies, James and I quickly realized that we share many commonalities in our trades: expert craftsmanship is integral, quality product is the ultimate endpoint, and an appreciation for the narrative behind our craft is key. We aim to share these overlapping themes with you.
With both of our trades, consumers could easily pick a less expensive or more mass-produced option than what we offer. What sets us apart for our clients is a shared appreciation for the experience of the event. Rather than simply buying a prefabricated engagement ring from the nearest jeweler, our clients want to understand their unique design and walk through the process from A to Z. Rather than slinging just anything for that milestone birthday, James’ clients want to experience a complex, deeply nuanced whisky with a particular history and craft. Often, people open their bottle of The Macallan on a yearly basis to commemorate a special occasion - much like the milestone gifts we create in our workshop.
We’re excited to share James’ wealth of knowledge - along with our own - with you as we dig into your burning questions. Curious about what it’s like to design jewelry every day? Wondering what it takes to differentiate the finest spirits from their counterparts? Want to know what sets small-batch production methods apart? Come see us next Thursday! Our After Hours events are free, but pre-registration is required as space is limited in our tiny shop. And tastings will be provided (of course - how could we discuss whisky and not imbibe?) so attendees must be over 21. To register, email us at inquiries@alxandcompany.com, and we will get you set up. We can’t wait to see you then!
