Update

Last week after a particularly good session with Heather I definitely needed a shower. In general, I don't like to sweat. It is so inconvenient. You have to shower, wash your hair (it takes me easily 20 minutes to dry mine!), and whatever else it takes to get the stink off you and look presentable. That takes time and time is something I don't usually have. However, for the September Reset I'm making the time and it's paying off. As I was getting in the shower, I noticed something in my peripheral vision. My shoulders were not where they usually are, which is slumped over in a permanent slouch. They were back, out of the way, and I was standing straighter. To say it was thrilling would be an understatement. This little thing didn't feel so little to me. I sort of reveled in it the rest of the day and started to imagine the possibilities if I kept up with the exercise. For the first time in a very long time I saw a healthier future and it felt good. Now, I have to be honest with you. I actually don't like posts like the ones we've been doing. Generally they are wrought with potential disaster. You get really excited and you're feeling good and moving forward, but what happens once your reset is done and your commitment to the reader has been fulfilled? Do you keep going? Or do you fall into the same old patterns? It seems like it's always the latter and that scares me. One of the greatest lessons that I have learned through this September Reset is that if you fall behind, then you start again the next day. You give yourself permission to fail and you forgive yourself if you do. There is no shame, there is only moving forward as best you can. Slow and steady wins the race.
