Product LOVE: The New Kevyn Aucoin Molten Matte Lip Color

If you read my posts with any regularity, you know that I get excited about certain things and have to share when I do. I often share skincare products I love, tools I can’t live without, and certain makeup products, too. It is almost never a lipstick or lip gloss. Why? Because as I have aged, my lips have thinned a bit. As a result, I generally wear very light to barely there lip color unless it’s the holidays. Then I’ll break out the red.When Elizabeth, my former store manager, was here…her lip color changed hourly. No, seriously, hourly. She loved lip color and loved the way one color could transform your whole look. I’d come in at 11am and see her in a light melon color, an hour later she’d be wearing a dark berry, I’d turn around and she’d have on a bright red.It was always fun to see, but also somewhat annoying as everything seemed to look good on her. I often got caught thinking “that is such a pretty color” only to try it on and think “nope, not for me” and immediately take it off.  So when Kevyn Aucoin announced they were sending new matte lip colors I thought, “a little late to the game…everyone’s got those…who cares?”The boxes arrived and as I do with everything in store, I tried them on. I tried on the lightest one, Nicole, first. I loved it. A great pink-y, peachy nude. I normally have trouble with nudes because they are either too pink, too peach, or too brown. But this one made me feel like Goldilocks…it was just right and it felt amazing. Furthermore, the color was intense and a true matte without looking chalky. It’s my favorite. I moved from one to the other and couldn’t believe it when I reached the very last one and said to myself “I would wear all of these.” I really would. I really will.So, of course, I texted Elizabeth immediately to gush over them and tell her that she absolutely had to try them. When she saw the colors, it wasn’t the nudes that caught her eye…she of course immediately liked the red.Whatever your color preference, if you like matte lip color, you are going to love these.
