A Home That Nurtures: Finding Love, Comfort, and Inspiration Within

Home is more than just a place we live—it’s where we find comfort, strength, and inspiration. As a designer and someone who loves being at home, I’ve seen firsthand how a thoughtfully designed space can transform not just the way we live, but how we feel. In times of stress or uncertainty, our homes become even more important, serving as sanctuaries that ground us and provide a sense of stability. Whether we are facing transitions, seeking renewal, or simply longing for a deeper connection to our surroundings, the spaces we inhabit should reflect and support us. It’s an honor to help our clients create homes that offer not only beauty, but also a place of solace, joy, and personal expression.

Some of the most impactful projects we’ve worked on have involved weaving cherished memories into a home’s design. We’ve incorporated antique heirlooms, like dining tables where generations have gathered, and reimagined childhood homes to accommodate modern living while preserving their sentimental essence. We’ve also created inspiring home offices for clients embarking on long-dreamed-of entrepreneurial journeys. These transformations go beyond aesthetics—they enrich lives and provide a deep sense of connection to one’s past, present, and future.

These two photos (Stylish Production) sare from our Seminary Project that includes a lot of heirlooms and antiques passed down from family.

There is a rhythm to a well-loved home, a harmony between its function and its beauty. It’s in the softness of a favorite chair where we retreat with a book, the warm glow of morning light spilling onto the kitchen table, the scent of a familiar candle that signals the end of a long day. These small details, often overlooked, form the essence of home—reminding us to slow down, to be present, and to appreciate the spaces that hold us.

This is from our current Project with Convene Architecture in Beverley Hills and very sentimental project. Our client is renovating and living in her childhood home. Can’t want to share the full story and project in the coming weeks.

To deepen our connection with our homes and ourselves, consider incorporating elements that nurture both body and mind:

  • Personal Rituals: Create daily moments of reflection, whether through journaling in a cozy nook, enjoying tea or coffee in a quiet space, or cooking a favorite recipe that brings comfort.

  • Surround Yourself with Meaningful Objects: Display cherished heirlooms, travel mementos, or artwork that tells your story and sparks joy.

  • Engage the Senses: Infuse your home with textures, colors, and scents that evoke warmth—soft linens, layered lighting, and soothing aromas can transform your space into a sanctuary.

  • Create Space for Movement and Rest: Whether it’s a yoga corner, a sunlit reading spot, or an inviting bed that promotes restful sleep, allow your home to support both activity and relaxation.

A well-designed space does not demand perfection; rather, it invites comfort, flexibility, and the ability to shift as we do. The beauty of home is not just in how it looks but in how it makes us feel—grounded, at ease, and inspired.

This lovely office was completed at our Rosemont project after we completed the majority of the home (#urbanfarmlakebungalowhome) and the start of a beautiful business adventure. Exciting news about this project coming soon too!

At Kristin Try Interiors, we believe that home is a reflection of those who inhabit it. By designing with intention and care, we create spaces that not only look beautiful but also enrich daily life, support well-being, and bring a sense of peace. Whether through thoughtful arrangements, meaningful design choices, or holistic renovations, investing in our homes is ultimately an investment in ourselves.

May you find moments to slow down, rest, and be inspired in your home this Valentine’s week.
