Home Design Gets Personal in Alexandria with Kristin Try Interiors
Home design is so personal to me because it’s not about perfect glossy magazine photos or trends – it’s about people, their feelings, and all of their life moments. When you reach out to me to for your design project, we aren’t going to start by talking about the latest colors or fabric patterns (although we will get to that later in the process), we are going to start with what excites you about your space, what memories you envision being made there, how you want to feel in it, and how it needs function for you now and later. Life goes fast and is constantly changing but home is there to inspire, excite, and comfort you.
In a typical whole home renovation, we are engaging with you during a multi-month, and sometimes multi-year, process and want to get to know you. We value working with you, your architect and builder to create a collaborative team with mutual respect and good energy to make the process enjoyable and lessen the stress of navigating the challenges that come along the way. I cannot emphasize how important it is to have a complete project team in place prior to starting your project. Many decisions and challenges can be addressed as a team as each of us has different viewpoints and expertise but our overall goal to create your dream home remains the same. Design is so much more than what you see in the end photo.
I love pulling together a good design scheme, down to the smallest, most beautiful details that will serve as the backdrop to all the memories you’ll experience in this home like Saturday morning pancake breakfasts with your kids, holiday cookie baking with your Mom, old and new friends celebrating your 45th birthday, or movie night with your teen who just broke up. This is where you live your story, let’s make it as beautiful and real as you are.
My passion is to create beautiful homes you will find comfort in at your most vulnerable times and to celebrate your happiest moments because that’s what I needed and wanted for my own family after an unexpected career shift from Government and Association Management. I personally experienced how interiors can heal and inspire.
Home for me also goes beyond my four walls to the community of Alexandria. My projects focus on Alexandria because this is where I want to make a difference and you all continue to inspire me. Every day I am meeting new and fascinating people, clients, and local business owners. I know I join many of you by shopping at my favorites Red Barn Mercantile, Penny Post, Manse, The Hive, getting coffee at Swings, lunch at Junction, or picking up wine at Grape and Bean, and flowers at Helen Olivia. I also find inspiration in our city’s natural beauty with long walks along the Mount Vernon Trail and the streets of Rosemont, Del Ray, and Old Town. This community is our home, and I look forward to working with you to make your piece of it – more beautiful.
