Meet Local Artist Riley Sheehey
The holidays are a wonderful time to appreciate local art, especially with a little added whimsical flair. It’s safe to say that we love everything local artist, Riley Sheehey, paints. Her enchanting watercolors and patterns can brighten anyone’s day. From her scenes of ballerinas, floral designs, and iconic movie moments, everything she creates is just magical. Riley lives and works in Falls Church with her husband and their dog, Stevie. She specializes in watercolors and started her freelance design and illustration company in the summer of 2014, after a good friend asked if she'd be interested in designing a custom watercolor invitation suite for her upcoming wedding. In June 2017, Riley left her elementary school teaching career to pursue freelance art full-time.Since starting her business in 2014, Riley has worked on projects with multiple brands including, but not limited to: Southern Living, Hilton, Kiel James Patrick, LaCroix, Longchamp, SOREL Footwear, and Ralph Lauren. She has created illustrations for editorial/print and social campaigns, artwork for labels and packaging, and custom patterns for textiles and wallpaper. Her signature style is whimsical and feminine, and she is most inspired by interior design, fashion, and architecture- but she's always open to new opportunities to create things that make people smile. We absolutely loved this depiction of Old Town that Riley created. The cobblestone streets, Colonial era townhouses, and even a friendly pup are the perfect representation of our historic district during the holidays. She also brought our flagship brokerage to life with this painting of their Georgetown office. All of the details seem to pop, from every window adorned with a balsam wreath, to the brick and mortar stars. To view Riley’s current artwork listings, please visit her online shop.
