Masks On! It's the Mount Vernon Masquerade

It’s the time of year again! The night when Mount Vernon’s grounds and gardens come alive in the moonlight. Party guests dazzle and dance under the stars until all eyes turn to the fabulous fireworks over the east lawn, overlooking the Potomac. Mount Vernon is always a magical place, but there is something about the elaborate black tie attire and colorful masks of the Mount Vernon Masquerade that takes it to the next level.  A masquerade ball is always enchanting. It’s been at the center of pop culture since the 15th century in Venice, Italy. Between the scenes of Phantom of the Opera or A Cinderella Story (we will always be thankful for that Hillary Duff and Chad Michael Murray combo), there is something that inspires everyone, even for just one night, to live in the fairytale moment. The Mount Vernon Masquerade is a tradition filled with style, live music, dancing, exquisite food, cocktails, and private tours of the mansion. The signature event welcomes more than 300 guests to the beautiful east lawn and raises money to support Mount Vernon’s mission of preservation and education. This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 21, 7pm  - 10:30pm.  The night is hosted by the MVunderground, Mount Vernon’s young professionals group. Did you know that you can become a member?! MVunderground is a unique opportunity for young professionals to engage and support the mission of George Washington’s Mount Vernon, while enjoying social and professional networking opportunities in the Washington, D.C. area.
