Our Take On Baby Shower Gifts

Gift-giving is my love language. I love picking out the perfect present for friends that shows thought and care and brings a big smile to their faces when they open it. Giving the perfect gift is an art, and we love helping you choose that special something - especially for the new babies in your life!

With one of our favorite Stylebook contributors having a baby shower coming up (congrats, Brittany Patterson!), I thought I would give a few of our favorite recommendations when shopping for a new baby.

My go-to baby gift is monogramming something adorable and something a new mom might not buy herself. I love to spoil a new baby with a special 0-3 month personalized footie and matching hat that can be used right away. No, it’s not practical, and it won’t last as long as some other gifts, but it’s special and will hopefully be cherished in the few first months. Yes, babies outgrow clothes quickly, but it’s nice to have a few special pieces that can be worn for their first outings and occasions, like newborn photos.

If you don’t know the gender of the baby for your upcoming shower, white is our recommendation. A beautiful white cable knit blanket, sweater, or white footie with a sweet lovey and a favorite book of yours are always good gifts. We stock yellow, green, and gray baby footies as well, but there is something beautiful about a new baby wearing white!

Want to give something that will last? Hooded towels are just the thing. In my house, my kids still use the hooded towels we were gifted when my boys were newborns - some are going on nine years! We have adorable towels with designs and many that can be personalized.

Not sure of the size you need for a baby shower coming up? A little cardigan is a great gift that the baby can grow into. We always tell customers you can size up and roll sleeves and then also wear a little small, so the baby gets good use of the sweater.

We have all the bibs, blankets, bonnets, binkies, and books to tie your gift together, and gift wrapping is always complimentary, We can’t wait to help you shower your new little baby!

Born and raised in Alexandria and married to a native Alexandrian as well! We love living in Old Town - just a few blocks from the store - with our three little boys and golden retriever Rumpelstiltzkin.
