Plaid Friday Caffeine Fix

Today is the day, ya’ll. It’s Plaid Friday! A day to hit the cobblestone streets and get those amazing deals at all of our favorite boutiques and shops. Look for plaid posters to find participating stores and sales starting at 6am, continuing all day. But if you’re like most of us and feeling a little sluggish after all that turkey, pie, and merriment, you’ll need a little extra caffeine to be on your A game. Here are our top coffee spots to help get your shop on and beat that tired tryptophan feeling.

Killer E.S.P.1012 King Street

Bringing your furry friend along to shop? This King Street cafe is completely dog-friendly! What’s the best cure for the after-Thanksgiving snooze? We can’t be 100% positive, but a piece of mouthwatering Killer E.S.P.’s pie and espresso shot is definitely what the doctor ordered. Already sick of turkey day leftovers? They also offer a variety of empanadas and struddels.

Misha’s917 King Street

Misha’s is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop were the baristas know their customers by name. Ditch the drowsiness by sipping one of their daily brewed in-house batches, while listening to jazz music. Or, grab one of their signature orange cups to go and fill it with hot chocolate or a variety of their artisanal coffees. Get some needed fuel for the day by trying one of their many local pasties, including a crowd favorite called “crack cookies.”

Old Town Dolci Gelati107 N Fairfax Street

Sometimes coffee alone just won’t do it. That’s when we need a good ol’ sugar rush to help us get through the morning. Dloci Gelati specializes in artisanal small batch gelato. Their flavors range from the signature Stracciatella to bacon flavored. They also offer croissants, muffins, cookies, brownies, and more! Pair that with an espresso, roasted coffee, or hot cider.

Murphy’s Old Town713 King Street

Can “feather of the turkey” be the festive version of “hair of the dog?” Either way, holiday hangovers can be a little rough. If you’re looking for something a wee bit stronger than the average caffeinated drink, you might want to try an Irish coffee. Grab breakfast and a boozy beverage at Murphy’s, which is conveniently located in the heart of all of our favorite shops.
