Red Barn Mercantile’s Annual Holiday Unveiling

If you call the store this week, don’t be surprised if we are slow to answer. We will be buried under boxes of Christmas decorations getting ready for our annual Holiday Unveiling. Every year, we turn the store upside down and create a winter wonderland for you to enjoy. This year, we have ten – yes, I said ten – themed trees planted around the store accompanied by all the accoutrements you need to make this Christmas festive.I hope you will join us on November 8th from 6-9pm as we unveil this year’s holiday goodies. At this year’s shindig, we have some really fun things in store. Along with the trees we will have treats from Buttercream Bakeshop and charcuterie from La Fromagerie, all styled by Joy Bythrow of Mornings Like These. The Old Town Boutique District photo booth will be on hand to capture the memories. Michele Hatty Fritz of Meant to Be Calligraphy will be working her magic in a cool and surprising new way (you have to come to find out!). There will be a raffle drawing and, best of all, discounts of 15 to 30 percent off your purchase! If that weren’t enough, take your discount and head on over to Penny Post to pick up your holiday cards, gift wrap, ribbon, and paper and pen stocking stuffers galore. We will be open from 6-9pm for your party pleasure. To give you a sense of the fun we have at our annual unveiling, here are a few pictures from years past. We look forward to seeing you Thursday night![nemus_slider id="54125"]

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations. Inspired by the art of personal correspondence, the power of handwritten notes, and the smell of freshly printed stationery, we surround ourselves with quirky, hilarious, and classically beautiful things to make life a little brighter.
