Red Barn Mercantile is Hiring

As you all know it’s Upholstery Sale season at Red Barn Mercantile. We have had so much fun helping our clients this go around. It seems everyone needs a refresh! While our team is knowledgeable and ready to help you find the perfect rug or sofa and our Design Collective is fantastic at full-service design, we have come to realize that there is a need for something in between. Some folks know what they like, just need a quick room refresh – maybe paint, fabric selections, and simple space planning – and are interested in a more DIY approach to procurement. They definitely fall somewhere in the middle of what we currently offer, and we aim to fix that. To do that we need to add to our team. The first new team member we need is an interior designer. Someone with two to five years of experience who is creative, self-motivated, friendly, and interested in building beautiful spaces while making valuable connections to our clients. This person would work in the store with our clients and offer in home visits. They also would support our sales team and our trade and Design Collective partners. Here is the job description - if this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you.  We are also in search of a couple new members for our sales team. These folks would be on hand to assist our customers to find the perfect gift, sofa, and everything in between. They should be friendly, funny, caring and kind, and willing to work within the framework of our company’s values: Connection, Generosity, and Vision. If that sounds like you then check out this job listing.I’m generally a humble person and don’t like to brag much, but in this one area I make an exception. IMHO Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post are the best teams in all of Old Town. No, all of Alexandria. Actually, of anywhere really. They are considerate of each other, always willing to pitch in when necessary, and go the extra mile for our customers. Plus, they are pretty fun to hang out with. If you’d like to join us, then email hello@redbarnmercantile.com. We look forward to hearing from you!!

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations. Inspired by the art of personal correspondence, the power of handwritten notes, and the smell of freshly printed stationery, we surround ourselves with quirky, hilarious, and classically beautiful things to make life a little brighter.
