Exhibiting With Friends: ‘More Moments of Art’ at River Farm

It’s always such a gift to be included in an exhibit with other artists. There's a sense of community, creativity and appreciation for each other and our life’s passion. When Carrie Garland, a dear friend and owner of Nepenthe Art Gallery approached me about being in the More Moments of Art exhibit at George Washington’s River Farm, I was beyond excited. River Farm has been a place of wonder for me and family over the years. I brought all my boys here for picnics and playtime when they were little, always thinking how neat it was that our first President could have stood exactly where they were playing.

Carrie shared, “We are delighted that our friend Bob Murray of The von Brahler Ltd. Gallery invited us to partner with him to present a fabulous collection of artists whose works were curated to complement the history and beauty of River Farm, home of the American Horticultural Society. Not only does this allow us to stretch our collection beyond the walls of our gallery, but it allows us to do so in a place that is so special to all of us in the community.”

I couldn’t agree with this sentiment more. The flowers the American Horticulture Society nurture and grow are beautiful, creating a wonderland of exploration and peace. I am always happy when I am at River Farm. It’s a place where I have photographed not only my own children, but clients, too, and it’s intertwined in my story. I love that my beloved cherry blossom prints are exhibited in the Manor home that sits perfectly on top of the hill overlooking the Potomac River, and I often find myself drawn to the back little porch looking out and dreaming about what I will create next.

We invite you to enjoy this collaborative exhibit, “More Moments of Art at River Farm,” now open and running through June 12. It includes a collection of approximately 30 to 40 artworks from a variety of talented Nepenthe artists as well as artists represented by Bob Murray.

The hours for the exhibit are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. There will be a closing reception (with light refreshments served) on June 5 from 5-7:30pm in the Manor House at River Farm.

And if you would like to capture your beautiful moments at this special place, too, you know who to call! Connect here.
