Self-Care While You Self-Quarantine

This is an unprecedented time we are living in right now. I have never been told that I should stay home and avoid going out. The strange thing is that if you had told me that I could have a week where all I had to do was stay home and take it easy, clean out my house, watch a movie or two, read, and do yard work, I would have said that sounds glorious. But somehow, the uncertainty of what awaits me when we return to normal life has made it difficult to see it that way.In order to try to relieve stress, I have committed to indulging in self-care during this self-quarantine. There are things I can do each day that make me feel a little better. For one, I can take a bath. I cannot remember the last time I had a relaxing bath. Who has time? Apparently, everyone right now. A nice long soak is very relaxing and therapeutic. Take time, run a bath, use a bubble bath or bath soak and just relax. If you can do this before bed, it will actually help you sleep better.  Give yourself a facial. It doesn’t take a lot to do it either. I like to use a chemical peel pad, follow with a tissue mask, and then slather your face cream all over. After a week of doing this, your face will look amazing!  Take care of your hair. If you can’t make it to the hairstylist, you can still get your hair in tip-top shape. Now’s the time to pull that hair mask out you never have time for. Next time you get out of the shower, layer on the hair mask, throw on your Aquis hair turban and leave it on for half an hour. If the weather is warm, sit outside with it on and read a book. The heat from the sun will make it penetrate more deeply.Give your feet a little attention. I love the Posh Peel from Patchology. You put your feet in the pre-prepared bags for an hour and let the AHA’s and BHA’s soak into your feet. After the hour is up, rinse your feet. Your feet will shed all the dead skin for the next several days and end up feeling softer than you can imagine. I also love the foot file by Deborah Lippmann. Just file your heels while dry and watch the skin flake off.Self-tan! It’s March. It’ll be April before we can start mingling again. Why not have a sun-kissed glow when you emerge? Try a daily lotion to gradually add a little color each day. In two weeks, it’ll look like you’ve come back from the Bahamas and not your basement.I know this time is stressful, please take a little moment for yourself each day. You deserve it.
