Senior Sensation
For many seniors, the last month of school can feel like a long drag. This is what we all know as “Senioritis.” As a way of soothing that condition, some schools work out wonderful and creative ways to keep their students stimulated and occupied. A strong positive shout-out to Episcopal High School for hitting the mark and challenging their seniors to branch out!
Ivy Lane has participated in Episcopal High School’s May Externship program for a number of years. Each time, an enthusiastic, creatively minded young adult has joined our team and spent almost a month shadowing and being involved in our business in a variety of ways. Giving these kids a chance to get a glimpse of what real-life work and work culture is all about. 😉 A chance to see behind the curtain of an industry of interest. It is a well-coordinated school and community-invested effort. It is always fun and also rewarding to be active participants in helping develop something and someone special.
This year we were paired with our “Lucky Lucy” (Thanks, Shelia G, for making the introduction. 😀) Lucy was, in a word, awesome! She showed initiative, flexibility, and always had a can-do attitude. She was gracious and kind. She observed and digested the inner workings of a small business. She offered subtle suggestions when she could. As a small business, it allowed us the pleasure of her extra helping hands but even more exciting was to get input from the point of view of a younger upcoming generation.
We were lucky to have Lucy, and we wish her the absolute best in college and in all her future ambitions! Go, Maroon!
