September Sneak Peeks: Meet Our Sapphire Sisters

This month, we're unveiling two new additions to our house collections: our Sapphire Sisters and our much-anticipated new Stargazer Collection. This week, we're highlighting our Sapphire Sisters - our newest members of our Engagement Collection featuring the most gorgeous blue sapphires...

First, something to know about sapphires: they are a beautiful alternative to the classic diamond if you're interested in an engagement ring with some color. Many Art Deco rings integrated sapphires in their designs to provide a colorful contrast, and sapphires have a storied history of sitting on some of the most famously engaged fingers of our time (Princess Diana and Kate Middleton being the most obvious references, of course).

We picked the sapphires used in these rings to show different shades and cuts available in this gorgeous gemstone. For example, The Lisa features a 3.09ct cornflower blue cushion cut sapphire, while The Jacqueline is set with a 2.00ct Ceylon blue oval sapphire. When searching for the perfect sapphire, color is often the most important factor, and we love the variety of tones that sapphires offer for designs.

We also wanted to show different styles you can pair with your sapphire feature stone. The Daisy is set in a classic Art Deco-inspired design and accented by diamond baguettes, while The Leah features a modern take on a classic halo style that feels light and unfussy. Which is your favorite style?

To see the rings in person, simply make an appointment to visit our showroom. These rings are available for purchase or for customization, so if you love a style but want a different center stone - just ask! We're happy to walk you through our Collection process.

Creative Director & Co-Owner | Alexandria and Company

I came to join Alexandria & Company by way of love: my husband Tim has owned the shop for nearly ten years, and I started by helping him on Saturdays so that we could spend more time together. Eventually, I quit my other life in the legal field to become Alx&Co’s Creative Director and co-owner with Tim. Now, we run our small business together in Old Town and I haven't looked back.

Alexandria & Company is an Old Town-based workshop and design studio specializing in creating and restoring fine jewelry and silver hollowware. They are the in-the-know jewelers of Alexandria and have been serving clients out of their small workshop for decades. Tucked in their historic building on South Royal Street, the team at Alx&Co. brings a personalized, modern approach to their craft – this is not your average stodgy jeweler or antique shop. Visit them online to view their collection of handmade fine jewelry; or, if you’re feeling creative, make an appointment to talk about that custom design project you’ve been imagining.
