Shopping Appointments at Red Barn Mercantile + Penny Post

We are so grateful for and overwhelmed by the support everyone has given us during the shutdown. We could not have gotten through this difficult time without you. As you know, Northern Virginia is in the middle of Phase One of its plan to reopen the state. We can’t wait to open our doors! This week we are excited to announce that we are offering private shopping appointments at Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post. Now, I know we can technically do more, but we want to wade back in cautiously. As we see how things go, we will be making plans to reopen sometime in Phase Two. In the beginning, it will all feel very procedural, but we promise to do our best to make your visit as pleasant as possible.  Here’s what you need to know...  Appointments start at noon and the last time slot is 4:30 pm. Each appointment will be 30 minutes long. If you need more than that, then please book multiple appointments in a row. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you do so as soon as you can so we can make room for someone else. You are welcome to bring one guest who is 10 or older.  In accordance to Virginia’s requirements, you must be wearing a mask when you come for your appointment. Unless, that is, if you have a medical reason. We will be wearing our masks too. When you get to the store, we will ask that you wash your hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering. Then you are welcome to shop!Until there is a vaccine, we have moved to a cashless, contactless payment system. After each appointment we will take time to prepare surfaces for the next customer. The Virginia Department of Health mandates us to do it in minimum intervals of two hours, but our plan is to do it more often. As always, your safety and the safety of our team is our first priority. To book your appointment simply visit our websites, RedBarnMercantile.com and ShopPennyPost.com, or go to our Instagram profiles, @redbarnmerc and @shoppennypost, and find the “Book Now” button. It’s super easy! As always, we will continue to do shipping and curbside pick-up if that suits you better. Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing you soon!!

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations. Inspired by the art of personal correspondence, the power of handwritten notes, and the smell of freshly printed stationery, we surround ourselves with quirky, hilarious, and classically beautiful things to make life a little brighter.
