Street Style: Katherine Studley

I first met Kat a couple of years ago at the coffee shop she was working at. It is hard not to meet Kat actually if you are in the same space as her. She will introduce herself to everyone, and the first thing you will find out about her is that she is from Buffalo! She’s one of those people that you meet and know immediately is going to do big things with their life. She is engaging, hilarious, outgoing, and incredibly talented. Because she is always in motion, Kat started doing marketing consulting / social media engagement for small businesses, as well as financial services for independent contractors and social media monetizers while also working two other jobs. Her Instagram for this business is filled with great advice and often hilarity. She is never not in motion, not creating, and not looking for new gigs. It is amazing to watch. (Honestly, she makes me feel like a slacker).

When Kat isn’t sporting yoga pants at her coffee job, she’s in a fitted dress or skirt with a sharp top. She always looks professional and absolutely gorgeous. She wears heels more than anyone during a pandemic needs to really, but that is Kat and her brand. She’s elegant and put together from top to bottom.

Danielle, owner of the fibre space shop, has been knitting since the age of six or so, when she completed her first project – a Cabbage Patch doll scarf. A Pittsburgh native with a degree in international development, she moved to the D.C. area to find a job and quickly established a career in non profit management and fundraising. For extra cash, she decided to turn her hobby into a job and taught knitting classes in the evening at area shops. With a heavy dose of sarcasm and a tough love style of teaching, Danielle quickly developed a following of students – busy D.C. professionals looking for a creative outlet. In October 2006, she struck out on her own with Knit-a-Gogo, Inc. – offering knitting classes and events all over the D.C. metro area.  Before she knew it, Knit-a-Gogo had grown out of control and Danielle moved to the next natural step – a full service yarn shop. In July 2009 fibre space was born and has been rockin’ ever since. When she isn’t behind the scenes with a mocha in hand, Danielle is hanging with her daughter or lobbying for small business needs at City Hall.
