Street Style: Suzanne Carlough

My favorite hashtag for many years has been #extraordinaryALX because Alexandria really is an extraordinary place filled with extraordinary people. Suzanne Carlough was one of the first people in my life who truly opened up my eyes to how many wonderful people we have living here. She is a highly skilled Interior Designer, a mom of three, and a lead volunteer.

Suzanne Carlough, co-founder of Carlough + Co., was born in New Jersey and is a graduate of Villanova University with a degree in Marketing and International Business. After graduating, she started her career in New York City, landing a marketing role with Clinique. She worked in various marketing, merchandising, and brand management roles at organizations such as Victoria's Secret Beauty, Links of London, and Fredrick Goldman! In 2012, the love of her life, Garrett, took a job in D.C., and Suzanne left New York City for Alexandria. The rest is history.

However, it was not until Suzanne began to settle into her new home in Alexandria that she realized her next career path. When her first "fur child" came along, quickly followed by her son, Suzanne saw the need for exceptional design without sacrificing durability. Creating beautiful yet comfortable spaces for the entire family to enjoy inspired Suzanne and her sister-in-law (and best friend), Deirdre, to launch Carlough + Co.

Carlough + Co.'s primary focus is family-friendly residential. Carlough + Co. strives to create interiors that reflect the clients' personalities and everyday lifestyles. With a passion for color, prints, and texture, their goal is to bring joy to clients' living spaces.

In addition to working and raising her three children, Suzanne is also an Alexandria 40 Under 40, former chair of The Campagna Center's Junior Friends, and a founding member of the Mount Vernon Estate Underground.
