Redefining Vanity (Vanity isn’t a dirty Word): The Heartbeat of Stylists at North

When I first began developing my business, there were definitely moments of doubt—wondering if I was truly up for the challenge. Could I really do this? How would I not only run a business that survives but one that thrives, fosters growth, feels like home, stays connected, and empowers others while staying true to myself?

During an incredible brainstorming session with a dear friend, she asked me, "What will make Stylists at North different?" I paused and with a deep breath, the answer came to me: I want to redefine vanity. At that moment, my friend's eyes lit up, and she asked what that meant. The energy started flowing, my heart opened, and my mission became clearer.

When you decide to open a business, there's a natural desire to create an amazing space. But this moment became something more. I realized that within this business, I had the opportunity to give my creativity life. With that, I knew I was nurturing a new culture from my unique lens, perspective, and experiences. Redefining vanity became a mantra—a celebration of our self-esteem journeys. It’s about creating a space where we can take the time to truly see ourselves, free from judgment, and explore how we want to show up in the world.

Vanity, guided through a holistic and intentional lens, becomes something deeper. Redefining vanity is about self-acceptance and amplifying our own beauty.

This creates a new language of clarity and flow while maintaining the original meaning.

‘Where vanity isn’t a dirty word’ became the follow up tagline. Giving ourselves radical permission to simply create rituals to taking care of ourselves in ways that are meaningful.

I believe, feel, and have observed that Stylists at North have increased the frequency of salon culture, quietly influencing our community to shift its perspective and experience.

I’m deeply honored to continue this journey of growth and elevate our creative vibrations together.

Mindfulness and communication are at the center of my heart and of Stylists At North. I have had an energetic career that began over 20 years ago at Graham Webb International. It has since evolved from working behind the chair to working behind the scenes at New York and Paris fashion weeks; editorial work; an amazing hairdressing journey of educating and mentoring. I also draw inspiration from being part of the Intercoiffure community, a prestigious international organization of high quality hairdressers. You can see my work featured in such publications as Girls Life magazine and DC Modern Luxury’s Best of Bridal.
