Surratt Halogram Eyeshadows…Your New Year’s Eve Look is Here
When I first received the Surratt Halogram Eyeshadows, I wasn’t sure what to think. When I swatched the shades on my hand they seemed very similar. They also seemed very sheer, almost too sheer. Once I realized this was because they were meant to be swept over one of the two base shadows, everything changed. One thing I have learned about the Surratt line is that almost nothing in his line is what it seems upon first glance. Pick up a smokey eye baton and you initially just see a smudgeable eye pencil. Then you twist the base and realize there is a companion shadow wand inside. The same is true for his Baton Rouge lip colors. Refill cartridges pop out of his brow pencils and liquid eyeliners making replacing them much more affordable. Everything in his line has been well thought out and beautifully crafted. This is true again with the launch of the Halogram Eyeshadow collection. The line consists of two powder to cream base shadows and six shimmery top shadows: Aurora (green); Cosmos (pink); Celestial (gold); Nebula (blue); Ultraviolet (purple) and Interstellar (silver). The base shadows are Light Matter (a peachy skin toned shade) and Dark Matter (a smokey black color). When you layer one of the six top colors over Light Matter you get an angelic and ethereal wash of color that is subtly different in color depending on the eyeshadow selected. When placed on top of the Dark Matter base a rich hue of color creates a vivid and gorgeous smokey eye effect.I have never really been able to create a graduated color smokey eye as well I can with these shadows. After watching the video of Michele Wang testing the Surratt eyeshadows, I attempted the same dual eye color look. I applied one of the shades on the inner eye area over Dark Matter and then applied a second color from the end of the lid and blended it into the first color just where they meet, and the effect was stunning. It was also incredibly easy. For those of you who like the idea of creating a smokey eye, but have never really been able to master it, this is a game changer. I found myself wearing the Light Matter with Cosmos over top, most of the week. Although the shadows are shimmery, there is something about the way they layer over the base that doesn’t call attention to the wrinkles in my lid the way other shimmer shadows do.One thing’s for sure, getting ready for New Year’s Eve will be a breeze with these easy to use gorgeous shadows.
