The Phyllis Cocktail

It’s not a coincidence that my new favorite cocktail is named after my favorite person: Phyllis just had a drink named in her honor and it’s undeniably delicious. Cedar Knoll, one of Phyllis’s favorite Alexandria restaurants, created a special drink for her sixtieth birthday party and reincarnated it for our recent client event. It’s so good that we couldn’t keep the ingredients a secret. The cocktail is tequila based, Phyllis’s favorite. It is sweet but not too sweet, warm and soothing, and has a little kick. The spiced cinnamon and sugar rim offsets the lime in a way that makes you eager for your next sip. For our purposes, this cocktail is called “The Phyllis,” but if you go to Cedar Knoll, ask for “The Foxy Lady.” They’ve since re-branded it, but the inspiration is still the same! The beverage goes perfectly with their Lemon Ginger Semolina Cake, another one of Phyllis’s favorites. You might be doubtful that these ingredients go together, but trust the experts at Cedar Knoll on this one. Mixology is one of their many specialties.
