Exploring Fall: Right Here in Alexandria

Last week, I shared some great fall getaways within driving distance, but what if your plans are to stay closer to home? Well, I’ve got you covered, because there’s so much to enjoy right here, in Alexandria. Here are a few local fall events to add to your calendar:

Nall’s Produce Pumpkin Hill

Pumpkin Hill is a free display featuring fall at its best: cornstalks, ornamental corns, mums, gourds, and a whole lotta pumpkins! The displays have been sourced from all over Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania to make Nall’s Produce and their Pumpkin Hill the ultimate autumn experience. From tiny table pumpkins to pumpkins bigger than your head, Nall’s is sure to set the tone for a very festive harvest season.

Visit Nall’s, open daily starting at 10 am, located at 7310 Beulah Street, Franconia VA 22315

Alexandria’s Spooky Halloween Homes

Although not an official tour, we think the elaborately decorated homes of Old Town Alexandria need one! The best street to bring visitors to in the fall is Captain’s Row, Prince Street. Not only is it a historic cobblestone street, but it’s also home to some of the best halloween decorations in town. From skeletons hanging from picturesque windows to super-size spiders crawling up the bricks to playfully stacked jack-o-lanterns the homes of Prince Street are fully committed to ringing in the halloween holiday spirit. And the bursts of orange and yellow from the trees lining the cobblestone street only add to the fall magic!

Old Town North Chalk Walk

Old Town North is an artist’s playground! The 2nd Annual Chalk Walk is happening Saturday, October 21 from 10 am - 4pm. Walkers can take a stroll to see each artist in action throughout the neighborhood. The route visits various chalk installations by 13 artists on sidewalks around N. Pitt St, N. St Asaph St, Madison St. and Montgomery St. Kids will have the opportunity to create their own designs near each artist's station.

Old Town Doggie Trick or Treat

Bring your costumed four-legged friends to the streets of Old Town to snag some treats from local boutiques. This is one of my favorite events of the fall! It’s so fun to see all these furry friends dressed up in clever and cute costumes. Start by picking up a goodie bag and map from The Dog Park at 705 King Street, happening October 29 from 1 - 4 pm.

Alexandria Fall Fest

We’re excited to team up with Alexandria Living Magazine for the 2nd annual Alexandria Fall Fest hosted at River Farm. Join us Sunday, November 5 from 11 am to 5 pm for an all-day autumn adventure. Festival-goers will enjoy pony rides, lawn games, bounce houses, beer garden, face painting and more for unforgettable fun for the whole family. Get your tickets here.
