Happy Birthday, Alexandria!

Celebrating 274 years young! Mark your calendars for a grand celebration as the City of Alexandria commemorates its birthday, coinciding with the USA's 247th birthday. Join the festivities on Saturday, July 8, at Oronoco Bay Park (100 Madison Street), where an evening of music, art, delectable treats, and a dazzling fireworks display awaits. This family-friendly event promises to be a memorable experience for all. Best of all, admission is free!

Here in Alexandria, celebrations don’t end after Independence Day. We have our own birthday celebration right here in town following our nation's celebration. July 8 will have a full evening of performances by local artists, art activities hosted by the Office of the Arts and the Alexandria Library, as well as food available on Pendleton Street from local vendors. Later in the evening, at 8pm, City Council will pass out birthday cupcakes to attendees! The evening concludes with a performance by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and a stellar fireworks display (grand finale at 9:30pm).
