Hey, Britt! What’s New In Town?

From bagel havens to scratch-made delights, here’s the scoop on what's shaking up the scene in town. Which of these new shops do you have your eye on?!

Call Your Mother

I’m getting déjà vu writing this, but finally Call Your Mother will find its home here in Old Town. The famous D.C. bagel spot will open its doors at 1300 King Street, under the newly constructed Braystone condos. Will it open as scheduled??? This looks promising, but we’ll just have to wait and see. I know I want to be one of the first to order their delicious bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich!!

Founding Farmers

Another area favorite is opening in Alexandria, this time in Potomac Yard. Founding Farmers will open in the new Oakville Triangle development, located between Del Ray and Potomac Yard and anchored by the Inova Healthplex. Have you visited their locations in Washington, D.C., Reston, Tysons, or Potomac? The restaurant is known for their extensive, made-from-scratch menu, which covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Union Sandwich Co.

One of our team favorites, Slaters Market, is opening a new waterfront shop, known as Union Sandwich Co., in Old Town’s Torpedo Factory! This location will focus on grab-and-go sandwiches and snacks. There will be a small counter for sitting inside the shop. At the time of writing this, there hasn’t been an official opening date set. But if you walk by, you’ll see that signs are up and the shelves are beginning to fill! Find Union Sandwich Co. at 77 King Street, right across from The Lucky Knot and Vola’s Hi-Tide Lounge.

MidnighTreats

Of course, I had to add a sweet treat to this list! MidnighTreats is now open in Old Town! The new vegan-friendly & plant-based cookie shop is located at 110 S. Payne Street. This location is no stranger to sweets – it previously housed Fleurir Chocolates, and it’s across from delicious Goodies Frozen Custard & Treats. MidnighTreats operates under the motto “Be Kind. Spread Love. Eat Cookies.” Now that’s a motto we can get behind!

And there you have it! Whether it’s sinking our teeth into a mouthwatering bagel, relishing a made-from-scratch feast, grabbing a gourmet sandwich on the go, or savoring a plant-based cookie that spreads love and kindness, we’re excited for these new shops to find their home in our Alexandria community.
