Tricks and Treats in Old Town This Halloween

I hate to dress up, but I love Halloween! It’s such a fun time to tap into your inner child and just be silly for the sake of being silly. Add tons of sugary treats, carved pumpkins, and spooky costumes and you’ve got a recipe for fun. You know that Old Town knows how to celebrate a holiday. Between birthday fireworks, First Night, tree lightings and Black Friday, and birthday parades for George, we know how to throw a party. Not to be outdone by all those things, we are excited to outdo Halloween as well with two family friendly events. On Saturday, October 26 The Old Town Boutique District and Old Town Business are joining forces to bring you Old Town Trick or Treat. From 10am - 5pm bring your ghouls and ghosties to Old Town and trick-or-treat in your favorite businesses. Click here to see the map of the over 40 businesses that will be handing out treats to anyone with a candy bag. Look for the posters on the door and in the windows. One of the things I love about this event is that it’s a safe way to take your kids trick-or-treating and it’s a good opportunity to get another use out of their costumes!   Then on Sunday, October 27, bring your costume-clad four legged friends out for Doggie Trick or Treat sponsored by The Dog Park and Old Town Business. Stop by The Dog Park, 705 King Street, to pick up your trick-or-treat bag and map that will guide your pooch to a treasure trove of treats. Also, when you start at The Dog Park, you’ll be entered into the costume contest where three lucky winners get Dog Park gift certificates.  I cannot tell you how much I love this weekend. Folks get so creative with their costumes and everyone has a wonderful time. The streets are bustling with activity and everyone is enjoying the silliest of holidays. We hope to see you in Old Town this Halloween!P.S. Speaking of holidays and parties, mark your calendar for November 7, 6pm - 9pm for Red Barn Mercantile’s annual Holiday Unveiling!
