Why You Should Give Oil a Try as Your Makeup Primer

If you have dry skin or you feel like your skin lacks radiance, using an oil as your makeup primer may be the answer. I started using oil as a primer around six months ago and I’ve never looked back. Since I’ve added the oil to my routine, I get more compliments on my skin than I ever have before.I didn’t actually intend to use oil as a primer the first time I discovered how great it was. I had put the Zelens Z-22 oil on my face to hydrate and nourish some dry patches that had formed. I pressed it into my skin with a jade roller and because I was in a hurry, I forgot to follow with my regular primer. I applied my foundation and it just moved and spread so beautifully, I was amazed. My skin glowed and amazingly the foundation stayed all day. Since then, I’ve applied a facial oil under foundation on everyone who is looking for a little radiance regardless of skin type. On oilier skin types I use less and avoid the T-zone. On drier skin types I use a little more oil and apply it all over. Either way, the oil should be pressed into the skin and allowed to fully absorb. If you’re in a hurry, take a tissue and blot gently then apply your foundation as usual. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bg7_VnDAEro/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link I’m sure many of you are wondering if the oil will make your foundation slide off or not last as long. But according to celebrity makeup artist, Katey Denno, prepping the skin with a facial oil no matter your skin type is the way to go as “it absorbs into skin more thoroughly than a moisturizer does, which allows foundation to adhere better to skin.”I’ve used a myriad of different foundation formulas as well and it seems to hold true regardless of the type of foundation. So, if you’re looking in the mirror and you aren’t thrilled with your foundation, maybe try using a face oil first the next time. It may just be a game changer.
